|AI Strategy| with a Readiness Assessment

What is an AI readiness assessment?

An AI readiness assessment is a structured review that shows how well a company is prepared to use AI and which use cases are worth pursuing first. It forms the foundation of every AI strategy.

We look at five dimensions:

  • Data: quality, availability and structure of your company knowledge
  • Systems: ERP, CRM, document management and their interfaces
  • Processes: volume, regularity and time spent on recurring tasks
  • Organisation: responsibilities, skills and readiness for change
  • Framework: data protection, information security and the EU AI Act

A strong AI strategy connects your business goals with the use cases that deliver the greatest value. In our AI readiness assessment we evaluate your data, systems and processes and derive a roadmap with a clear business case, so you introduce AI with focus and confidence.

The readiness assessment is the starting point of our AI consulting for mid-sized companies.

What you receive after the readiness assessment

  • Maturity rating

across all five dimensions, with concrete action areas

  • Prioritised use case list

    ranked by value and feasibility

  • Quick wins

    for the first 90 days

  • Architecture and hosting recommendation

matched to your data protection requirements

  • Decision paper

    for management and budget approval

Prioritising AI use cases: balancing value and feasibility

We place every use case in a matrix of business value and feasibility. The result is a sequence that combines quick wins with long-term impact.

Quick wins

High value, fast to implement. Example: capturing incoming invoices, classifying service emails.

Strategic projects

High value, multi-stage implementation. Example: knowledge assistant across all company documents.

Efficiency boosters

Solid value, fast to implement. Example: draft texts for proposals and sales.

Future topics

Potential for later stages. Example: forecasts based on new data sources.

The AI roadmap: planning across three horizons

We build governance and documentation into the plan from day one.

0–3 months

Deliver quick wins, launch a pilot with real data, adopt an AI policy.

Metric: hours saved, adoption rate

We describe how individual use cases are implemented under Automate processes with AI.

3–12 months

Integration into core systems, rollout to further departments, training programme.

Metric: cycle times, quality, satisfaction

12+ months

Scaling, governance system, new areas of application.

Metric: contribution to results, reuse

The framework for this is covered under EU AI Act compliance.

Business case: calculating the value of AI

A robust business case does not assess AI in general terms but for each use case individually. We follow four steps.

1. Establish the baseline

We measure how the process runs today: volumes, handling times, error rates and the roles involved. This baseline makes every later improvement verifiable.

2. Account for full costs

We assess staff costs using a full-cost approach: gross salary, employer contributions and a share of overheads for workplace, IT and administration. On the AI side, we include implementation, operations, model usage and further development.

3. Quantify the benefits

Beyond time saved, we assess effects that cannot be expressed directly in hours: higher quality, faster response times and scalability as volumes grow.

4. Evaluate the economics

Costs and benefits determine the return on investment and the payback period. Scenarios based on cautious and expected assumptions show how robust the result is.

During the readiness assessment, we build the business case with your own figures. The result is a sound basis for management and budget approval.

From pilot to production

Pilot projects deliver their full value when they are built for everyday use from the start. Three principles guide every one of our projects:

  1. Real data: we develop and test with a representative sample of your production data, including all edge cases.
  2. Early integration: connecting to ERP, CRM or DMS is part of the first sprint.
  3. Clear ownership: before rollout, it is defined who looks after and improves the solution in the business unit.

Teams that use AI with confidence drive the change: AI training for companies.

How the AI readiness assessment works

Every step is planned transparently: AI project costs at a glance.

  1. 01

    Kick-off workshop (half a day)

    Define goals, scope and contacts.

  2. 02

    Analysis (1–2 weeks)

Interviews with business units, review of data, systems and processes.

  3. 03

    Results workshop (half a day)

Discuss maturity, use case matrix, roadmap and business case together.

  4. 04

    Implementation (optional)

If you wish, we implement the first use case together with you, as a pilot with real data.

Frequently asked questions about AI strategy

How long does an AI readiness assessment take?

Usually one to two weeks, from kick-off to the results workshop.

Who should take part?

Management or division heads, IT and two to three business units with recurring, data-intensive tasks.

What preparation is needed?

An overview of your systems and a few examples of typical documents or transactions are enough to get started.

How do you introduce AI in a company?

In a clear sequence: readiness assessment, prioritised roadmap, pilot with real data, rollout with training and defined ownership.

What is the typical budget?

The assessment is offered at a fixed price. You receive a transparent estimate for every following step.

What happens after the assessment?

You decide freely on the next steps. If you wish, we implement the first use case together with you.
